The first question an electrician asks about a job in Germasogeia is usually not what the fault is. It is who owns the part of the building the fault sits in. Two questions on the first call sort the streams apart: whether the company holds a current electrical contractor's licence in its own name, and whether it takes domestic work at all. Meter cabinets, pool plant enclosures, external lighting and roof-mounted isolators all sit in it, and the grade of enclosure and fixing decides whether a fitting survives or is replaced within a few seasons. Settle it before materials are ordered.

Multi-storey stock and its common parts. High-rise development along this coast has pushed demand towards balcony waterproofing and facade maintenance, and electrical work is entangled with it: facade lighting, riser boards, lift supplies and car park circuits belong to the building rather than to any one flat. Work at height carries the access cost — platform or scaffold — rather than the fitting cost.

Cooling load in let apartments. Air conditioning is the peak electrical load in a Cypriot property, and a short-let unit runs it continuously while occupied, which is exactly when nobody wants an outage. Older blocks along the strip were wired before every room had a unit on it. Circuits carrying more than they were designed for, and boards without residual current protection on socket circuits, are what most often turn a small job into a larger one.
